Moving from Leiden to Voorschoten

It felt a little strange. Four men carrying your belongings around while you are not allowed to do anything. That is how Jolanda van Halem felt during her move from Leiden to Voorschoten.

,,We weren’t allowed to do anything, because we were told that we would have enough to keep us busy after the move. That’s true, but it felt very unnatural.”

At the beginning of June, Jolanda moved with her daughters Mara (20) and Rosa (18) from an apartment in Leiden Zuid West to a family home on Roosje Voserf in Voorschoten. For the move, she chose Verhuisbedrijf en Transportbedrijf Jan van Duuren from Leiden.

,,I’ve moved many times, but usually with a rented truck and help from friends. My sister moved with Van Duuren some time ago. She was so pleased with the experience that I wanted to use them too. I called them and Gerben Jansen came by to provide a quote.”

After some encouragement from friends, she also asked another company for a quote, but she had actually already made up her mind.

,,The other quote wasn’t cheaper and was less clear. With Van Duuren, I immediately knew where I stood. And then there were my sister’s good experiences as well, so my choice had actually already been made,” Jolanda explains.

No regrets about that decision

She hasn’t regretted that decision for a moment. In one day, all her belongings were moved from the apartment to the family home without any problems.

All the furniture and boxes were taken out of the apartment using a furniture lift. When unloading at the new house, there was a huge downpour, so the work was temporarily paused.

The hallway was then covered to protect it from the mud coming in from the garden, and part of the belongings was brought inside through the bedroom window. This also kept the stairs nice and clean.

Jolanda: ,,Everything went so smoothly. I was also able to take my time deciding where I wanted the sofa. I had something in mind, but then suddenly it looks different in the room. But no problem, the sofa was simply moved again.”

She also really appreciated that the movers dismantled and reassembled the wardrobes.

,,The atmosphere was also so good. You could see that they enjoyed working together and there was time for a joke. Would I ask them over for coffee again the next day? Well, almost,” she says with a laugh.

,,But seriously, if I ever move again, I’ll go with Van Duuren again.”

For now, she is staying in Voorschoten

For now, that is not an issue and she will remain in her new home in Voorschoten.

,,It’s wonderfully peaceful here. And my daughters are also happy with the extra space and the garden. It’s also only five minutes extra by bike to Leiden. No, if I had moved to Timbuktu, they would have protested, but they love it here.”
